Continuing Education and Scholarship Program Thesis Publication Assistance
One of the schemes under which the Continuing Education and
Scholarship Program Committee (CESPC) promotes educational research
among librarians is to provide publication assistance for the
publication of outstanding Masters Thesis in Library and Information
Science. The following are the policies and procedures for seeking the
publication assistance
Policies for Publication Assistance - An applicant should come from an ALBASA member institution of good standing as defined by the ALBASA By-Laws.
- An applicant must be permanently employed for at least
three consecutive years prior to the application and duly endorsed
by the school head.
- An applicant, who is not financed earlier by any organization, may apply for assistance.
- The application for publication assistance for a
Masters thesis must be submitted by the author on the prescribed
pro-forma.
- A Masters thesis, which is older than five years from
oral defense, is not accepted for assistance. In case, the
examiners/reviewers of the Masters thesis have recommended revision,
the author is to first revise the thesis as suggested by the
examiners/reviewers and the revised version is to be submitted to the
committee for final approval.
- The applicant must submit the duly accomplished approval
sheet. It should be accompanied by an abstract of the thesis in
about 200 to 300 words covering the objectives, methodology and
main findings of the thesis.
- The CSEPC will then get the thesis for evaluation and
will inform the applicant whether the thesis is acceptable for
publication assistance or not. The decision of the CESPC is
final.
General Conditions for Release of Assistance - The assistance is admissible only if the Masters
degree is on Library and Information Science and it has been
awarded within a period of 5 years from the date of application.
- The total amount of the assistance is Fifteen
Thousand Pesos (P15, 000.00). The first installment amounting to
50% of the estimated expenditures not exceeding P7, 500.00, will
be released after the applicant has accepted the terms and
conditions of the assistance and the approval of the CESPC is
communicated to the applicant. The remaining assistance of P7,
500.00 would be released after the receipt of one complimentary
copy and publication bills in detail.
- Due recognition of the ALBASA assistance shall be included in the acknowledgment page of the final copy.
